Very large dark blue flowers bloom in spring, followed by a later flush of blooms that are often lighter in color, but equally impressive. This clematis has graced gardens since the late 1800’s, earning a RHS Award of Garden Merit along the way. For best results, plant ‘Elsa Spath’ where she can sprawl horizontally as well as climb on a medium size support.
You can create a dramatic element in your garden by growing ‘Kasugai’ and ‘Ilka’ with ‘Elsa Spath’.
